Inizio Medical celebrates two MM+M Award finalist nominations for AI innovation in Medical Affairs

22 July 2026

Inizio Medical has been named a finalist in two categories at the 2026 MM+M Awards, recognizing collaborations with AstraZeneca and Novartis that demonstrate successful real-world application of artificial intelligence (AI) in Medical Affairs.

The finalist nominations highlight projects that use AI to support scientific engagement, improve data interpretation, and enhance educational experiences while maintaining scientific governance, medical review and human oversight.

Developed with AstraZeneca, HCP Velocity is a finalist in the Use of AI, Automation and Predictive Analytics category. This product brings together millions of structured and unstructured data points, including HCP engagement data and Medical Science Liaison (MSL) insights, to help Medical Affairs teams better understand and track healthcare professionals’ scientific learning journeys, and the impact of medical activity on these journeys.

Generative AI was used to transform unstructured free-text field insights into structured information and apply an assessment framework. The AI then combined these transformed insights with structured engagement data to generate a final adjudication, providing a single, holistic assessment of each HCP’s position within the learning journey. Developed in collaboration with Medical Affairs experts and validated through blinded expert review, the model achieved >95% agreement with reviewers.

The second finalist, CV Health (Un)Checked?, was developed with Novartis by Nucleus Global, an Inizio Medical company. Shortlisted in the Use of Generative AI (GenAI) and Synthetic Media category, the medical booth asset uses generative AI to create an educational experience designed to increase awareness of the importance of lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)) testing among healthcare professionals.

Launched at the American Heart Association 2025 Scientific Sessions, the AI-generated patient scenarios not only served as a booth attractor but also provided invaluable insights into educational gaps among practicing cardiologists.

The two finalist nominations reflect Inizio Medical’s work with clients to apply AI across Medical Affairs, from advanced analytics that support stronger decision-making to educational encounters that draw HCPs in and promote positive behavior change. The MM+M Awards will be held in New York on October 1, where Inizio Medical will join its clients, colleagues and project teams in celebrating the finalist nominations.
