Giving back is a huge part of who we are at Inizio.

Our people across the globe are keen to donate their time and contribute to their local communities. To support this, we host Community Action Day activities throughout the year – encouraging all employees to volunteer in initiatives that make a real difference to people’s lives.

How Inizio supports employee volunteering

In 2025, our employees volunteered over 4,000 hours and supported over 45 community projects. Ahead of International Day of Charity on September 5, we’re spotlighting some of the incredible charitable efforts our colleagues have been a part of so far this year.

Raising awareness of antimicrobial resistance through volunteering

For Demi Christofi from Inizio Medical, volunteering provides an opportunity to use her scientific expertise to help tackle one of the world’s biggest public health challenges: antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

AMR occurs when bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites evolve over time and no longer respond to the medicines designed to treat them.

Demi volunteers with The AMR Narrative, a charity dedicated to raising awareness of AMR through education, public engagement, and advocacy. Most recently, Demi volunteered at the microbeDOME during the English Riviera Airshow, helping bring the invisible microbial world to life for members of the public.

“Volunteering at the microbeDOME was a fantastic opportunity to engage directly with the public and start conversations about antimicrobial resistance in a fun and accessible way.” – Demi Christofi

Supporting Londoners through emergency response volunteering

For Graham Lehr from Inizio Engage XD, volunteering is about making a difference when people need support the most.

Graham volunteers as an Emergency Responder with the London Ambulance Service NHS Trust. Emergency Responders are LAS trained volunteers who – in addition to paid staff – respond to appropriate 999 calls with the aim of reducing the time taken to reach some of London’s sickest patients.

He started volunteered with St John Ambulance in 2017, providing first aid support at major events. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he also volunteered in his local emergency department and later supported the national vaccination program.

“It’s a genuine privilege to support people, often when they are at their most anxious. About 70% of my projects are healthcare-based, so seeing the lived experiences of patients and the challenges they sometimes face helps ground what we do in reality.” – Graham Lehr

Protecting North Wales wildlife through conservation

As part of Project Llyn Padarn, Joanne Pan from Inizio Engage XD took part in the Invasive Non-Native Species (INNS) Action Day in North Wales.

Joanne joined a team of volunteers working to remove invasive waterweed – that are known to block sunlight, outcompete native aquatic plants, and damage important habitats – from Llyn Padarn.

Following several days of hard work, the team achieved one of the largest clearances recorded by the project and Joanne even earned herself the nickname “the underwater lawn mower”.

“Being able to combine my diving skills with practical conservation work made the experience particularly meaningful.” – Joanne Pan

Supporting families at Flemington Area Food Pantry

This year, Franca Picarelli from Inizio Medical took part in volunteering initiatives at the Flemington Area Food Pantry.

Flemington Area Food Pantry offer choices of nutritious foods and essentials, foster resource connections, and provide tailored programming.

During the day, Franca helped distribute food and essential items to individuals and families in the local Hunterdon County community.

“I wanted to do my part to help ensure that members of our community have access to nutritious food and know there is support available when they need it. Volunteering is a meaningful way for me to give back and make a positive difference in the lives of local families.” – Franca Picarelli
