Inizio, a strategic partner to health and life science companies throughout the lifecycle of their drug products has announced its ambition to achieve net zero by 2040.

Working towards this goal, Inizio will shortly submit scope 1, 2 & 3 near-term carbon reduction targets to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for assessment and validation. These near-term targets cover direct emissions (e.g. fuel combustion and company vehicles), indirect emissions (from the generation of purchased electricity) and supply chain emissions, over a 10-year period.

Like many organizations, scope 3 emissions comprise a large proportion of Inizio’s overall carbon footprint and to address this, the organization is embarking on a supply chain sustainability program. With a global supply base spanning multiple geographies and categories, Inizio will work with its suppliers to ensure that together we meet our carbon reduction objectives.

Dervala Leahy, Head of ESG at Inizio said: “We’ve made significant progress this year in developing our decarbonization pathway, and now we are sharing our intentions as we tackle the next stage of our sustainability journey.

“We understand that urgent action is needed to limit global warming and when validated by the SBTi, these targets represent our public commitment to achieving them.

“Pairing our robust plans with a culture that empowers every individual within Inizio to make positive changes, I am confident that we will be able to realize these ambitions and build a sustainable future for all.”

Inizio has also launched its latest sustainability report: ‘It’s time to build a sustainable future’. The report details Inizio’s commitment to being a sustainable business, outlines how it has shaped its sustainability strategy and how it is working towards its targets for scopes 1,2 and 3.
