From insight to action: Making intelligence work harder in life sciences

12 October 2026

Life sciences organizations have access to more data, signals, and intelligence than ever before. The challenge is no longer simply generating insight. It is turning that intelligence into action quickly enough to influence what happens next.

That was a central theme explored at a recent live webinar session delivered for clients by our colleagues at Inizio Evoke, where Will Reese, Chief Innovation Officer, and Jamie Avallone, Chief Data Officer, examined how AI and applied intelligence are changing the way commercial teams understand customers, make decisions, and activate omnichannel strategies.

Their discussion highlighted an important shift: from intelligence as something we periodically consult, to intelligence as something that continuously informs the next decision.

Closing the gap between knowing and doing

Commercial teams can draw on an expanding range of signals — from clinical behavior and beliefs to intent, access, and engagement. But more information does not automatically lead to better decisions.

The opportunity lies in connecting those signals with context.

Rather than relying solely on predefined segments and journeys, applied intelligence can help organizations develop a more dynamic understanding of individual HCPs and patients. That means asking not only ‘who is this person?’, but ‘what is happening now, what does it mean, and what should we do next?’

This creates the potential for engagement that responds more closely to the needs and circumstances of each stakeholder.

Creating a continuous learning cycle

AI also gives commercial teams new ways to explore decisions before taking them to market.

Synthetic audiences, digital twins, and scenario modeling can help teams test hypotheses, interrogate customer challenges, and explore different approaches earlier in the planning process.

But the bigger opportunity comes when learning continues after activation.

Signals can inform decisions. Decisions lead to actions. Outcomes create new signals. Feeding those outcomes back into the process creates a continuous learning cycle that can make future decisions more informed and more responsive.

As Will Reese explained: “Strategic planning should get smarter week over week.”

Making intelligence actionable

At Inizio, we believe the value of intelligence comes from what organizations can do with it.

Connecting data and AI with deep human expertise can help shorten the distance between identifying an opportunity and determining the right response — bringing insight, strategy, and activation closer together.

For life sciences organizations navigating increasingly complex customer journeys, that creates an important question: Is your intelligence simply telling you more, or is it helping you decide what to do next?
