Helping to build a healthier, more equitable world.
We seek to contribute positively to the communities we serve and to society more widely. Under the social pillar of our Sustainability Strategy, we have a dedicated community strategy that involves supporting our charities of choice, matched funding, and employee volunteering.
In 2024, we continued to financially support our three charities of choice, including:
Our support helps UNICEF to immunize children in hard-to-reach areas and in protracted humanitarian crises – leading to more children at risk of preventable diseases.
With our support, the London Autism Group Charity has opened six community cafés, hosted monthly activity days, expanded one-to-one mental health support, run its first autistic-led mental health conference, hired three part-time autistic staff, and grown its specialist advocacy work.
We support the American Heart Association (AHA) in their commitment to advance health equity by removing barriers to health through work in communities, scientific research and advocating for healthy policies.
Our Community Action Days give employees the opportunity to take time away from work and get involved in good causes aligned with the theme of health equity. Across our business, a day, or several days throughout the year, are selected where employees can choose to participate in various activities to promote and support health equity within our communities.
In 2024, colleagues came together to support health equity and vulnerable communities through impactful local initiatives, volunteering 6,385 hours across 55 community projects. Highlights include:
Volunteered at elderly care homes, cancer centers, and with underprivileged children in India, distributing food, essentials, and offering companionship.
Helped at community centers in London, Philadelphia, and New York; donated blood, winter clothing, and food in Canada; volunteered with West Island Mission in Quebec.
Supported post-hurricane relief with the Red Cross; created care packages for Gemma Services and the Red Cross; volunteered with Thrive, the Soup Kitchen London, and Teenage Cancer Trust.
Helped children in need at Cradles to Crayons (US); supported Ufulu Malawi to end period poverty; volunteered at Barretstown Children’s Campus in Ireland.
Supported veterans and families through the Salute 2 Service Foundation in Pennsylvania.
In 2024, Apothecom (part of Inizio Medical) partnered with the Lightyear Foundation, a UK charity helping disabled and neurodivergent young people engage with STEM.
“We have genuinely felt that Apothecom colleagues were ‘part of our team’, engaging wholeheartedly and really taking time to understand our work and our objectives as a charity. This is a shining example of how industry partners can give back to communities in a really positive, practical way.” – Jeff Banks, CEO, Lightyear Foundation
