The events industry can be a
significant carbon emitter, so
we’refocused on delivering more
sustainable events across Inizio
Medical and Inizio Engage.
In 2022, Inizio Engage XD became
afounding member of isla, an
independent body established by
event professionals and industry
leaders to accelerate the transition to
a sustainable future. Inizio Engage XD
now uses TRACE, isla’s best-in-class
carbon-measurement tool, tomonitor
and reduce the environmental impact
of the experiences it creates.
TRACE measures the carbon from
live, hybrid, and digital experiences
inreal time, enabling the calculation
of granular carbon data. This data
identifies areas for improvement
while measuring the effectiveness
ofactions taken. It can estimate the
impact of ideas in the conception
stage, analyze changes from the
initial proposal during planning,
andassess findings post-experience.
This ensures Engage XD can take
informed decisions to make an
experience as sustainable as possible.
Inizio Engage XD now also produces
bespoke event sustainability reports
for its clients that directly align with
sustainability strategies and carbon-
reduction goals – a crucial first step
on the path to a more sustainable
future for events.

Within Inizio Medical, our colleagues
in Nucleus are offering sustainable
solutions to help clients run green
events, including using eco-banners
for presentations and symposium/
booth props, sustainable catering
options, digital options for reducing
printed materials, and engaging
with congress organizers.

Reducing waste
Although waste is not a material
sourceof Scope 3 emissions for us,
wegenerate small amounts of non-
hazardous waste through our meetings
and events business, and in our offices.
During 2022, we implemented a
zerosingle-use plastic policy globally
and have continued to reiterate this
message via our Small Changes,
BigImpact campaign. This policy
galvanized the support of our people
and encouraged office managers
and facilities personnel to reconsider
their approach to purchasing office
supplies. 100% of our offices are now
single-use plastic free.
For electronic waste, we’ve taken
steps to ensure that, in most cases,
we donate old or defective IT
equipment to local charities or
othergood causes. Where this isn’t
viable, we partner with e-disposal
companies based in the UK and US.
These firms refurbish and remarket
working equipment or recycle it
responsibly to recover raw materials.
